Housing Opportunities for Women (HOW) commitment to addressing the intergenerational and multi-faceted nature of homelessness and poverty is carried out through the provision of safe, affordable housing, supportive services, community outreach and advocacy to inform and help shape public policy.


Housing is provided in buildings owned and managed by HOW in addition to scattered site units we rent from private landlords on behalf of our clients. Supportive services include comprehensive case management, employment srvices, child and youth services and a growing healthcare program. Concerns Regarding McKinney-Vento Reauthorization According to the National Coalition to End Homelessness, there are currently two version of legislation to reauthorize the HUD McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. In February 2007, Representative Julia Carson introduced the Homeless Emergency Assistance and Rapid Transition to Housing Act, or the HEARTH Act, H.R. 840.
